Product Information Western blots are used as the secondary test for the presence of HIV. Students are given hypothetical samples from patients who have tested positive for HIV by ELISA. Protein samples are separated by horizontal agarose gel electrophoresis, transferred to a membrane, and detected by staining. This experiment does not require an electrotransfer apparatus. Includes: positive control, negative control, patient samples, standard molecular weight dye markers, UltraSpec-Protein Agarose®, 10x tri-glycine-sds buffer, 10x tris-glycine buffer, practice gel loading solution, pipet, 100 mL graduated cylinder, precut west blot membrane (7x7 cm), precut blotting filter paper (7x7 cm), western blot stain, instructions.
