Science teacher David Royer has cut through the confusion of the physics of going around in circles with this well-rounded lab.
Weights of various masses are attached by chains of varying lengths to a “wave swinger” placed on a turn-table. The turn-table is turned on and students observe the motion - measuring radius/diameter and calculating circumference to determine how weight and/or length of chain affects the circumference of the swing.
They can also find out how speed (78 or 33 rpm versus 45) affects results.
Includes: circular motion swing, bead chains, couplings, clay, 2 - 10g hook weights, 2 - 20g hook weights, instructions. Turntable required - not included.
