Do Microbes Arise Spontaneously Lab
|
Product Information
For thousands of years people believed that frogs were formed of mud; fleas arose from sweat; mice from garbage; and flies from decaying meat. This was known as “spontaneous generation”. Despite many experiments over the centuries, it was not only 1860 that Louis Pasteur completely disproved this doctrine. In this lab, students determine the origins of microbes (and gain insight into the origins of live) by recreating Pasteur’s famous experiment. They observe two samples of nutrient broth, one sterile and the other non-sterile, to find out where the bacteria grows. Includes: teacher’s guide; study study and analysis copymasters; materials for six lab groups.
