Edvotek Surviving Hostile Environments
|
Product Information
Spore formation is unique to certain bacteria. The vegetative form of a bacteria is converted to spores to survive hostile environments such as drought or lack of nutrients. Spores are stable for long periods of time until the environment favors their survival at which time the sporulated form is converted back to the vegetative form of the bacteria. In this experiment, different bacteria spores will be stained and examined microscopically. Under the proper environmental conditions, spores will convert to the vegetative form. Bacterial cells will be stained and identified. Experiment includes:Complete instructions, background information, and study questions Biologicals and stains ReadyPour Luria Broth Agar Fluorescent reagents for bacterial detection Petri plates, 60 & 100mm 10ml pipet (sterile) Inoculating loops Transfer Pipets Sterile swabs
