Gold Rush Kit: Making an Alloy a Redox Reaction (Teacher-Developed, Classroom-Tested)
|
Product Information
Is it really gold? Students discover how alloys are formed and determine what alloy (zinc and copper) is an attractive replication of gold. With a single displacement redox reaction, students observe sodium zincate formed from elemental zinc. Using the unbalanced equation, students write the oxidation and reduction half reactions and balance the equation to complete the experiment. Developed by Jessica Lyons, this kit includes instructions. Grades 11–12.
