The Great American Balloon Car Race is a high-interest hands-on project where students build and race a light-weight balloon powered vehicle. An extremely open-ended activity, students are given the materials they need along with some very basic instructions, then are set free to discover for themselves how to develop and construct a model that does what its supposed to do. Developed by Bruce Sherbeck. Includes materials for 40 cars and instructions. Grades 4–8.

Balloon Racers

The kit were easy to assemble and successful to race. I also had the students take the basic design and add their own chassis to the balloon racers and then had new races. They had fun.
