Product Information

A great manipulative for teaching about human chromosomes developed by California biology teacher Larry Hiday, this human karotype is large enough for the entire class to see. Place the chromosome spread on a magnetic blackboard, then line the homologous pairs in order of length and banding. Down’s Syndrome, Klinefelter’s Disease and Turner’s Syndrome can be demonstrated. Additional topics that can be covered include the different genetic makeups of males and females and genetic abnormalities. Kit can be used as a demo or as an individual manipulative used for alternative assessment. Includes instructions. Grades 7–10.
