Product Information
All of the components for a classic “energy as a function of work” experiment. The kit includes a 20 cm mercury thermometer (10° to 40°C in 0.2°C divisions), and a plastic bag filled with 1000 g of copper metal shot doubly protected by a cloth drawstring bag. At the start of the experiment, the thermometer is inserted into the bag to take the temperature of the copper cuttings. The bag is then dropped from varying heights and the thermometer inserted after each drop to measure the temperature increase. The resulting data can be plotted to determine the amount of work and the loss of potential energy.
