Pirate Vector Game

Product Information
A solid knowledge of vectors is essential for any understanding of magnitude and direction. This activity uses a pirate motif to introduce students to vectors. Each student draws their own version of a treasure map, and cards are drawn that provide directions in “pirate paces”. Students follow these directions and discover that when it comes to vector addition, the order doesn’t matter – whichever way they go, they will still discover the treasure. Include instructions. Developed by David Baxter. Grades 11–12.
