Comes with enough materials for 40 PCR reactions
PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technology finds specific DNA sequences and “amplifies” these sequences from minute quantities to levels sufficient for direct detection or analysis.
In this lab students demonstrate the PCR amplification of the bacteriophage lambda genome (50,000bp total size) of different specific sequences (300bp, 500bp, and 700bp respectively) defined by three different pairs of primers and analyze the products by agarose gel electrophoresis.
Comes with enough materials for 40 PCR reactions and a teacher’s guide with student study and analysis copymasters. A thermal cycler or two water baths, electrophoresis chamber, power supply, and micropipets are required but not included. Also not included is the perishables set (DNA sample set, PCR mix, and DNA), which requires a ship date.
