Molecular Motion Demonstrator
|
Product Information
Just one apparatus enables your students to investigate the random motion of molecules, the diffusion of gases and Brownian motion, Boyle’s Law and Charles’ law, and states of matter (the properties of liquids, gases, and solids). It can be used on an overhead projector, so the whole class can clearly see changes due to temperature, pressure, and volume. Here’s how it works. The demonstrator vibrates different sized balls on a glass plate to simulate how molecules move and act under various circumstances. A control knob lets you adjust the vibration speed to show effects of temperature. Barriers are provided for demonstrating diffusion and confinement, a glass dish for comparing molecular motion in solids and liquids, a disc to represent a smoke particle, and five different types of balls to represent various molecules. A study guide provides in-depth scientific background and lessons for 11 experiments. Operates on 120V, AC.
