This fun set includes a slinky spring, a loaded elastic cord, and the 3 meter long transverse wave machine. The wave machine (furnished unassembled) can be operated by one or two students and provides an excellent introduction to mechanical waves for children of all ages.
Students learn about wave propagation, the superposition principle, wave amplitude decay, stationary waves, resonance, and reflection and transmission at a boundary.
Younger students learn about the qualitative properties of waves and older students perform detailed quantitative analyses, as outlined in the 49-page booklet Experiments with Waves.
The set also Includes one 5 meter and two 3 meter elastic cords, spacers, and weights to change wave variables.
