Latent Print Development with Magnetic Powder
The Forensic Curricumlum Station (FOCUS) program was developed in a joint collaboration between Marty Ludas and Science Kit. These labs teach real crime scene investigation techniques as used by real crime scene investigators and forensic scientists. All materials used in these kits are the same as those used by professionals and include many Sirchie products (Sirchie is a leading provider of equipment and supplies to law enforcement agencies around the world).
Marty Ludas has worked in the forensic science field since 1972. He has been employed by the FBI and is certified by the International Association of Identification in two disciplines of evidence identification: latent fingerprint and footwear analysis. Marty has lectured at Quantico, the FBI's famous training center.
Latent fingerprint print development wit magnetic powder can be accompished safely and successfully with this training package and supply kit. Instructors utilize transparencies for their lecture presentation and challenge their students to develop latent prints purposefully staged on a drinking glass. Students are guided in the proper detection, collection, preservation and documentation of latent fingerprint evidence. Supplies include quantities for multiple exercises. Magnetic powder is reusable and does not become airborne. Ten students, working individually or as a team, can develop prints with this complete identification package.
