Product Information

With this two part lab, students measure the diameter of three different size beads ( X, Y, and Z) of the same density. They perform trials, measuring the amount of time it takes for each to fall to the bottom of a column of water and corn syrup. Using the average time for each bead, they plot the data on a graph. Your students are given the diameter of imaginary bead Q, that must fall between X, Y, and Z. They are to extrapolate the length of time it will take bead Q to drop through the column using their graph from part one. Developed by Science Kit’s Product Development Team. Includes instructions. Grades 6–9.
