Appropriate for all grade levels.
Dennis Dougherty has developed this all in one plastic model, designed to be hand-held or placed in a ten gallon aquarium (sold separately) filled with water. Major sea floor topographic features and plate tectonic concepts (continental drift and sea floor spreading) are illustrated. When submersed in an aquarium, the model simulates rift venting and volcanic eruptions as well as deep sea currents. Turbity, salinity, convection and upwelling can be simulated with salt and food coloring. Lesson Plans, student worksheets and seafloor resources are included.
