Product Information

This exciting multi-phase kit will let students precisely measure the electrical resistance of a superconducting material as a function of temperature; determine the critical magnetic field that destroys the superconducting phase; measure the maximum, or critical, current that the superconductor can carry; and demonstrate the Josephson Effect and the Meissner Effect.
Components include: a superconductor with a built-in, four-point electrical probe and thermometer, a 2.5 cm diameter superconductor disc, a cubical neodymium rare earth alloy magnet, a cylindrical samarium rare earth alloy magnet, tweezers, a container for a liquid nitrogen bath, and a teacher’s guide.
