What Does Your Homunculus Look Like?
|
Product Information
It is possible to map the entire body as it is “sensed” by the neurons located in the somatosensory cortex. This “picture” of the body on the brain is called the “homunculus” or “little man”. In this lab students use calipers and blindfolds to determine the density of touch receptors in various parts of their body. The data is used to make a diagram that shows them what their “homunculus” looks like. Developed by Warren Marchioni. Includes instructions. Grades 9–12.
