Constructing a Moon Phase Calendar Activity

Identify the moon’s phases 365 days a year.

This engaging kit, developed by teacher Stephen Berr, includes photo-realistic images of the moon for photocopying. Each student then receives 30 images to shade, label, mount, and consecutively order into a 4" x 5" flip-type calendar. As students observe the night sky throughout the year, they can match and identify the phase or age of the moon using their personalized calendar. Includes 31 sets and instructions with background information and suggested activities. Grades 5–10.
