Physics teacher Victor Noto has developed a great way to demonstrate heat transfer by convection. His density tube uses water at different temperatures to produce bulk liquid flow. By timing how long it takes for a small volume of liquid to move up to the top of the tube, students can determine if the rate of heat transfer depends on the density differences. Includes instructions.
