Teachers use it to demonstrate the live wave motion that is generated using linear rope and thread. With the provided function generator, the waves generate nodes and antinodes, and their full wave length or half wave length are measurable.

The wavelength can be changed with the help of variation in frequency and stress generated with different weights on the one end of rope and thread.
