Showing normal annual monocot structure, Zea is a great model for students to use, as its easily compared to in-hand specimens. Roots show a pronounced pith surrounded by easily identified vascular material. Stem structure shows the scattered vascular bundles, and leaves show parallel venation. As an important plant in the food chain, there is also a slide showing the kernel and embryo structure.
