Introduce the Concepts of Leukocytosis and Leukopenia

Five patient case studies are presented for students to analyze. They will dilute simulated blood samples from each patient and then observe each sample under the microscope using a hemacytometer (both available separately). Once your students have obtained a quantitative white blood cell count, they will be able to diagnose and evaluate each patient’s health. Like our other WARD’S Simulated Blood products, this activity is completely safe and the white blood cells are distinguishable under a microscope without any staining necessary. It includes enough materials for 50 tests, a teacher’s guide, and student copymaster.
