Hypsibius sp. The water bear is a complex animal representing the unusual phylum of Tardigrades, which contains about 400 marine, terrestrial, and freshwater species.

Ideal for use as a model system, this free-living nematode has biological processes similar to those of other animals. The transparent animal normally inhabits soil.

Drosophila melanogaster, the common fruit fly, is widely used in genetic studies. They express a number of mutations such as eye, wing, and body mutations.

Long life cycle (approximately one month). Useful for comparative population studies and for preparing salivary gland chromosome squashes.
