K’NEX Education Intro to Simple Machines: Wheels/Axles & Inclined Planes
Investigate and experiment with 7 functioning Wheel & Axle and Inclined Plane models designed to demonstrate science and technology concepts.
Students can determine, through investigation, if the machine multiplies the force it applies to the resistance (load), if the machine changes the direction of the force they apply, and more.

Vernier® Interface Shield
The Vernier Arduino Interface Shield plugs directly on top of the Arduino and adds two BTA (analog) and two BTD (digital) sockets. This shield was developed to be used with the SparkFun Arduino RedBoard but will work with the Arduino Uno and other Uno equivalents like the Leonardo. It also works with the Intel Galileo.

KidWind® Solar Thermal Exploration Kit
The Solar Thermal Exploration Kit is modeled after a domestic solar water-heating system. Explore variables such as box color, light intensity, tube design, rate of water pumping, and amount of time it takes to heat the water. Learn about what makes a solar water heating system more or less efficient.

Electrolyzer (Set of 5)
Use the PEM Electrolyzer to produce hydrogen and oxygen using only pure water and an external power source. Take your pick of power sources, all available from Horizon: small solar cell, wind turbines, fuel cells, mechanical hand cranks, or batteries. Using the high-tech proton exchange membrane, this tiny electrolyzer will produce hydrogen for use in any classroom or laboratory activities.

KidWind® Wind Turbine Hubs
The hub will press fit onto the shaft of many small DC generators; just attach your own blades and begin experimenting with wind power! The hub is designed to allow you to change blade angles and/or interchange blade sets quickly and easily. An improved stainless-steel insert can take a beating in your classroom year after year without failing!

KidWind® Gear Set with Spool
Experiment with gear ratios on your wind turbine or other small projects. Adding gears to your turbine can greatly increase the generator RPM, giving you higher power output. The small 8-tooth gear fits on 2 mm driveshafts that are found on many DC generators. The gears have a keying feature that allows them to be changed quickly and easily using the included hex locks. The hex lock secures to our 9/64 inch hex-driveshaft. Hex-driveshaft not included.

Vernier® Time of Flight Pad
Use the Time of Flight Pad to precisely measure how long a projectile has been in motion. The Time of Flight Pad is used with the Vernier Projectile Launcher and a Vernier interface to determine the launch speed of a projectile, along with the time the projectile is in flight. Time-of-flight measurements allow students to see just how kinematic calculations work in real-world applications. The Time of Flight Pad is electrically like a photogate. When a ball strikes the foam top surface, a circuit is closed.

KidWind simpleGEN AC Generator
The simpleGEN is an easy-to-build AC generator that allows students to explore the basics of electrical generator design. With the simpleGEN, you can demonstrate Faraday’s law, light LEDs, and perform experiments that explore how coils, magnets, and rotation affect electrical generation. With some quick modifications, you will be able to convert your generator to a simple motor and explore additional variables. You can also take your experiments to the next level by converting your simpleGEN into a wind turbine nacelle.
