Heat/Thermodynamics Learning Activities
Avantor offers a complete catalogue of instruments and tools useful for demonstrating key, basic concepts of physics that are applicable to everyday life both in and out of the laboratory. Demonstrate core ideas such as acceleration down a plane, friction, potential and kinetic energy, electrical conductivity, magnetic fields, wavelengths and velocity of sound, and more. Durable educational materials are designed for heavy use with consistent levels of handling, and all models are easy to use.

Differential Pressure Bottle
A dramatic visualization of air pressure. This 1000 ml bottle has a balloon attached to its neck and an additional hole in its base fitted with a rubber stopper. You cannot inflate the balloon with the stopper in place, but remove the stopper and the balloon easily inflates. Replace the stopper, fill the bottle with water, remove stopper and Whoosh! – a geyser erupts!

Rubber Magdeburg Hemispheres
Demonstrate the force of air pressure without a vacuum pump. The edges of the two 8.5 cm rubber cups are placed together and pressed to expel the air between them. Students discover the difficulty of separating the cups by pulling and tugging on the handles - providing an effective, 'hands-on' demonstration of air pressure.
