Based On Data From X-Ray Diffraction Studies

Highly accurate in its detail, this model shows a section of a DNA double helix with 10.5 base pairs per turn. The intricate molecular structure of DNA’s major components and the hydrogen bonds between complementary bases are represented by the colored stick presentation in the model’s middle section. Adding further precision, the lower and upper sections of the model are based on the van der Waals radii of the atoms composing the surface.
