Priscacara liops (Eocene)
This beautiful and classic fossil fish displays great skeletal preservation and detail. Trapped in the ash-clogged waters of a freshwater lake following what is believed to have been a nearby volcanic eruption, the delicate bones and structures have been finely preserved for nearly 50 million years. This is one trophy that didn't get away! The fish is 5" long on a shale matrix measuring 10 ½"L x 9 ¼"W x 3/8"D. Wyoming.
