- Visualize alpha scattering
It is used to show Rutherford scattering with the help of a gravitational analogue of inverse square law repulsion. It consists of a spun aluminum hill, a steel ball and a wooden launching ramp, which has a guide groove down its curved front face. Launching heights may be observed from its index marking at 40, 60, 80, and 100mm above the base.
