Diffraction Materials Card
Quickly Demonstrate Relationships Between Line Width, Wavelength, and Diffraction Angle

Is it a wave or a particle? This convenient card displays five different materials to investigate the effects of diffraction and explore the fundamental questions of quantum mechanics. Use as a visual aid when discussing the qualitative nature of diffraction or as an introduction to a more quantitative analysis using Young’s equation for diffraction. In a laboratory setting, measurements of the diffraction pattern can be used to calculate the wavelength of laser light used or calculate the line spacing of the grating. Card includes five separate line spacings for comparison and line widths from 110 per inch to 5,000 per inch for a conceptual and concrete understanding of one and two dimensional diffraction patterns.
