I love Ward's rock specimens for lab exercises in my classroom. Students can observe, compare and contrast, igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. After the labs, they cannot say a rock is just a rock anymore!

Granite (Biotite, pink, coarse grained)
Granites are typically light in color with readily visible individual mineral grains. They may be gray, white, pink, black and yellow brown. Granite proper is fundamentally only quartz and potash feldspar usually peppered with a few or many specks of mica or darker mineral. Grain size may range from a millimeter to a centimeter or more.
