Homeostasis:
Introduce students to homeostasis, an ongoing, active process that requires constant monitoring and adjustments to keep the body in balance. The human body is exposed to a constantly changing external environment. These changes are neutralized by our internal environment, a stable environment maintained by the blood, lymph and tissue fluids that bathe and protect the cells. This video introduces students to homeostasis, an ongoing, active process that requires constant monitoring and adjustments to keep the body in balance. Intriguing images and active examples guide students on an exploration of several conditions regulated by homeostatic mechanisms in a variety of organisms, including human beings.

Basic Chemistry For Biology Students:
This program begins by defining and illustrating atoms, subatomic particles, molecules, ions, and isotopes. Then the program goes on to explain the biological significance of ionic and covalent bonds. In part two, the role of important organic molecules is explained. Students will learn how polysaccharides are formed and broken down through dehydration/hydrolysis reactions. They will also discover how and why proteins fold into the structures they do, as well as explore the structure and function of nucleic acids.
