Good but - I used the lab in my Earth to Space science class a fourth year science class in Texas High schools.the students and I liked the samples themselves. I liked the graphing the depth if the ash lab section. the students and I struggled with the parts of the lab and the teacher answer sheet gave he answer but offered little explanation. I plan to use the material again but going to have to get some

Ward's® Mt. Pinatubo Ash Lab Activity
Educational Classroom Kits and Activities
Includes Actual Samples from the Volcanic Eruption.

  • Aligned to NGSS standards (MS/HS: ESS1, ESS2, ESS3)
Students examine real ash from the Philippines’ Mt. Pinatubo, make a map of ash-fall thickness, and answer questions about the volcano’s chemistry. The set can also be utilized for meteorology studies and lessons on the effects of volcanic particles in the upper atmosphere. It comes with enough materials for five setups, including 15 ash sample study cards, five each of three different Mt. Pinatubo ash sites; a teacher’s guide with lesson plan and answer key; student activity copymasters; and 15 magnifiers.

The kit is also available for purchase with a link to a NewPath digital lesson, which includes a variety of resources on the topic, including background information, illustrations and self-assessments.
