Saccharomyces cereviciae Strains for Genetic Manipulation
Specimens Live Specimens Fungi - Living Material
Yeast strains are ideal for genetic study because they are easy to grow and maintain, their life cycle is complete in approximately one week, and you can arrest different stages of the life cycle by growing it on different types of media.

  • Easy to grow and maintain
  • Variety of strains available
  • All strains are haploid form
  • Supplied on YEAD agar, incubate at 30°C
We offer a variety of strains that carry the traits for color and tryptophan (Trp) and adenine (Ade) dependence or independence, expressed as either different color colonies or by their ability to grow on selective media. Colony color on YEAD and dependence upon Trp or Ade is indicated by strain below.

These various strains can be used for a wide range of genetic experiments, including reproduction experiments, since the “a” strain will mate with the “alpha” strain.
