As the coil becomes energized it pushes away from the ceramic magnetic with enough force to cause it to rotate around its axis. As the coil completes a turn, it becomes charged again and gets another push. This process happens again and again to keep the motor turning. Students can feel the magnetic force by holding the coil in place with the shiny ends down against the metal supports. They can also see what happens when the enamel side of the wire touches the metal support U. Developed by Bruce Yeany.
