Study the Movement of the Continents Through Time
Study the history, development, and evidence for the theory of plate tectonics with this interactive program that lets you move and rotate the globe and individual continents to see how they fit together and build the supercontinent of Pangaea. You can also study the climatic changes over time, view the oceanic ridge system, and watch the oceanic lithosphere being created. The software also allows you to calculate water depth and plot the data on a graph to construct a profile of the ocean floor. Or, if you prefer, you can assemble a plate tectonics “puzzle” and experience the major interaction along the plate boundaries. You can also study the difference between convergent, divergent, and transform fault boundaries. The program can be run in two levels, either Intermediate or Advanced.System RequirementsMac: PowerPC, OS 8.1 to OS X, 32MB RAMWindows: Pentium 166, Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP, 32MB RAM
