Recombinant DNA technology can be a difficult subject for even the most advanced high school students to fully grasp, and the associated terminology is often a source of confusion.
- Developed by Julie Bohrer
- Includes materials for 15 student groups and instructions
- Grades 9 to AP
This activity uses Velcro® 'genes' and 'plasmids' to provide students with something tangible to manipulate, giving them a visual aid to the terms involved in the process.
As a result there should be a complete understanding of what recombinant DNA technology is, and which materials are involved in the process. This kit can also be used to demonstrate DNA replication, protein synthesis, mitosis and meiosis.
