Visions in Education Grade K Science Kit
These standards-based kits are designed to specifically align with California's science curriculum. The included kit supplies and instructions combine for fun, hands-on activities that demonstrate the core science principles at each grade level. Through interactive inquiry, your child experiences a higher level of learning and information retention that they will thoroughly enjoy. The kits include all the materials needed to complete the curriculum activities. Written materials to accompany the kits are available online. Elementary kits have 2-4 activities per standard set (Life Science, Physical Science, etc.). All materials are packaged in a clear, durable storage tote.

The activities in the kit teach to these Grade K standards:
Physical Science
1.a Students know objects can be described in terms of the materials they are made of (e.g., clay, cloth, paper) and their physical properties (e.g., color, size, shape, weight, texture, flexibility, attraction to magnets,
1.c Students know water left in an open container evaporates (goes into the air) but water in a closed container does not.

Life Sciences
2.c Students know how to identify major structures of common plants and animals (e.g., stems, leaves, roots, arms, wings, legs).

Earth Science
3.a Students know characteristics of mountains, rivers, oceans, valleys, deserts, and local landforms.
3.c Students know how to identify resources from Earth that are used in everyday life and understand that many resources can be conserved.

Investigation & Experimentation
4.a Observe common objects by using the five senses. [Caution: Observational activities associated with tasting and smelling should be conducted only under parental supervision at home.]
4.b Describe the properties of common objects.
4.c c. Describe the relative position of objects using one reference (e.g., above or below).
4.d Compare and sort common objects by one physical attribute (e.g., color, shape, texture, size, weight).
4.e Communicate observations orally and through drawings.
