Explore the interesting properties of nanomaterials by reducing a solution of gold (III) chloride to form colloidal gold nanoparticles. As the reaction occurs, the mixture undergoes multiple color changes before becoming the bright red color characteristic of small gold nanoparticles. There are enough materials to complete the demonstration five times.
