Prepared Eosin Methylene Blue Agar (EMB) Media

This selective and differential medium is used to isolate gram negative organisms.

• Sterile, pre-prepared media; just inoculate and incubate.

• Contains indicator dyes that form purple precipitate at low pH

This media contains Eosin Y and Methylene Blue, which are indicator dyes, forming a dark purple precipitate at a low pH, an indication of the presence of gram negative organisms such as fecal coliforms. This medium is not meant to act as a general purpose medium and will not support the growth of gram positive organisms.

Each bottle pours approximately 10 Petri dishes. Simply melt in a microwave oven, water bath or autoclave. Once cool enough to handle, pour into sterile Petri dish plates
