Long, sturdy glass tubes have platinum electrodes sealed at the closed end with a 2 mm arc gap. The tubes are marked with a permanent brown scale in 0.1 or 0.2 mL divisions for 50 and 100 mL respectively. An induction coil is recommended for use with eudiometers.
