Minéraux en lame mince
Les échantillons de minéraux sont découpés en différentes tailles pour répondre à divers besoins. Ils sont couramment utilisés pour l'identification par les étudiants, comme supports de démonstration en cours ou conférences, ou encore sous forme de fragments pour des tests d'identification physique en laboratoire. Ces échantillons illustrent également plusieurs caractéristiques géologiques classiques, comme le clivage. Des collections de minéraux peuvent aussi être utilisées pour tester la dureté de Mohs d'autres minéraux et les comparer.
