Les cultures d’algues forment des colonies cellulaires très faciles à visualiser, ce qui permet de mieux comprendre les parois cellulaires et les plastes. De nombreux spécimens vivants se reproduisent rapidement, ce qui facilite un enchaînement rapide des tests successifs.
