Hydromètres
L'hydromètre mesure la densité relative des liquides ou des particules de sol trop fines pour une analyse par tamisage. Cet instrument flottant est constitué d'une tige cylindrique surmontée d'un bulbe de lestage. Lesté de métal et non de plomb ou de mercure, il permet une lecture directe de la graduation au niveau du ménisque. Transparent pour une lecture précise, l'hydromètre peut être étalonné pour des essais spécifiques. La précision et la subdivision de la plage de mesure varient selon les instruments d'analyse de la densité relative.
